SAIC is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to support the NSWC Crane IBAS Chief Engineer in advancing innovative manufacturing technologies and techniques for hypersonics and microelectronics projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role is critical in enhancing and sustaining the national industrial base. The successful candidate will conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) and Manufacturing Process Assessments, recommend manufacturing process improvements, identify technology insertion opportunities, and address production & capacity bottlenecks for hypersonic systems and microelectronics.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) and Manufacturing Process Assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Recommend manufacturing process improvements and identify opportunities for technology insertion.
- Identify production and capacity bottlenecks for hypersonic systems and microelectronics manufacturing.
- Develop and recommend high-impact investment concepts to address identified bottlenecks.
- Assist the Program Chief Engineer in developing Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Solution (RFS) to solicit innovative solutions.
- Support proposal evaluation teams in completing comprehensive assessments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and alignment with program objectives.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree and 11 or more years of experience. Experience must include commercial manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
- Process Measurement
- Metrology
- Statistical Methods & Analysis
- Lean Manufacturing
- Six Sigma Black Belt
- Supply Chain Management
- Design for Manufacture
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Ability to travel within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS)
- US Citizenship
- Interim secret clearance required to start with ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in hypersonics manufacturing, specifically in areas such as:
- Thermal Protection Systems (Composites Manufacturing, Ceramics Manufacturing & Ceramic Matrix Composites, High-Temperature Metals, Architected Materials)
- Solid Rocket Motors (Cases, Propellant)
- Power & Batteries
- Control and Actuation
- Energetics
- Experience in microelectronics manufacturing, particularly in areas such as:
- Integrated Circuits
- Supply Chain
- Supply Chain Security
- Counterfeit Identification & Avoidance
