SAIC is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to a customer within the Intelligence Community (IC) in Chantilly, VA. This customer is responsible for designing, building, and operating experimental spacecraft to demonstrate advanced technologies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Lead technical objective development and decomposition, oversee development contractor's design, development, integration and test of an experimental space systems.
· Oversee systems integration and interface control management.
· Perform system integration of space segment, ground segment, launch segment and operations.
· Develop, manage and baseline interface control documents with external and internal stakeholders.
· Perform systems architecting and engineering activities such as system objectives definition, interface definition, design, interface management, systems integration, performance analysis, and development and refinement of concepts of operation.
· Oversee system verification and validation.
· Make program risks assessments and provides actionable mitigation recommendations to the program manager.
· Independently collaborate with Government program office representatives, FFRDC, SETA, and contractor personnel.
· Support the development, documentation, and execution of experiment plans
· Leads technical requirements development, systems engineering, and oversees development contractor to develop, design, produce, integrate and test space systems.
· Advise the customer on how to coordinate with internal and external community partners to identify technology gaps, design technology development plans, and execute technology projects/programs for successful transition into customer systems
· Participate in program readiness and design reviews
· Ensure the R&D efforts are planned and conducted on a sound engineering basis including management of technical risks
· Develop documents and briefings to communicate work or study status, brief Government and industry as required
· Provide support to acquisition, source selection, and programmatic processes
Qualifications
· Current TS/SCI clearance with current poly
· Bachelor's degree in engineering (systems mechanical, electrical or related discipline) and 5 years relevant work experience or a Master's degree in engineering (systems, mechanical, electrical or related discipline) and 3 years of relevant work experience
· Demonstrated space systems engineering experience
· Demonstrated NRO Special Program Office (SPO) or Major Systems Acquisition (MSA) experience
· Experience providing acquisition support to include working budgets, schedules, contracts (drafting SOWs, CDRLs, RFPs), and supporting source selection efforts
· Experience working at the NRO
Desired Qualifications
· Experience supporting varied portfolio projects with dissimilar technical focuses; ideally experienced managing R&D projects
· Strong interpersonal skill with effective technical writing and briefing skills
· Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and energetic setting
· Strong working knowledge of MS office applications
