SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering, and Integration (S3I) Directorate Aviation System Integration Laboratory (SIL) programs in Huntsville, Alabama. This position provides the opportunity to design, integrate, troubleshoot, and sustain high-fidelity aviation system integration laboratories supporting the AH-64D/E Apache, CH-47F Chinook, and UH-60M/V Black Hawk platforms. The successful candidate will work alongside engineers, software developers, technicians, and Government personnel to develop hardware solutions, integrate aircraft systems, and support critical test events that directly contribute to Army Aviation modernization.

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

  • Design electrical wiring schematics and cable assemblies using engineering best practices.
  • Design, fabricate, install, and troubleshoot wire harnesses, interface cables, and laboratory hardware.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical data packages, and Modification Work Orders (MWOs).
  • Support integration of aircraft avionics, simulation hardware, and laboratory equipment.
  • Develop technical documentation, engineering reports, and design packages.
  • Perform system integration, verification, troubleshooting, and functional testing.
  • Support software, hardware, and system-level integration testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and integration issues across multiple aircraft laboratories.
  • Recommend improvements that increase laboratory capability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Work independently while managing multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates and Government customers.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn new technologies and responsibilities.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while representing the program.
  • Support occasional travel or off-site integration activities as required.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years' experience; additional four (4) years' experience can be considered in lieu of degree. 

Required Clearance: 

  • Must possess an active Interim Secret security clearance to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; US Citizenship required. 

Required Skills: 

  • Experience with aviation systems integration laboratories or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) environments.
  • Experience supporting DoD aircraft programs.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD wiring practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of aircraft technical manuals and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of avionics data buses such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, CAN, Ethernet, or RS-422/485.
  • Experience with National Instruments PXI or similar laboratory instrumentation.
