SAIC is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom and Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) efforts. SR-1 will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to higher powered and longer duration Mars missions. The candidate would be Supporting the SR-1 PPE Lead Systems Engineer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Definition and oversight of PPE assembly, integration and test (AI&T)
- Development of GSE requirements
- Development of launch site ground operations
- Coordinate activities with the SR-1 Vehicle Integration team
- Provide insight and oversight of the prime contractor's AI&T team
Location:
- Work will be performed in Cleveland, Ohio, onsite at NASA GRC 5-days a week.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Experience developing complex flight hardware
Demonstrated experience leading AI&T activities and processes
Experience in systems engineering activities, practices, and processes
Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teams
Excellent communication skills
Highly motivated and able to work independently
Team player dedicated to the mission
Desired Skills:
Experience with GSE and Ground Operations for spaceflight hardware
Previous experience in a defense, aerospace, or naval systems engineering processes and procedures
- Familiarity or experience with critical lifts and types of space hardware testing
- Experience with spaceflight hardware projects
- INCOSE CSEP
Education/Experience:
Completed at least a bachelor of science degree in a STEM-related major from an accredited program with the following education and experience:
- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more of relevant experience;
- Masters and seven (7) years or more of relevant experience;
- PhD or JD and four (4) years or more of relevant experience.
