Technical Editor Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Review technical documents for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
  • Edit content for grammar, style, and tone
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers, and subject matter experts
  • Ensure technical documentation aligns with organizational standards
  • Organize and manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously
  • Develop and maintain templates and style guides
  • Verify technical content through testing or consultation with experts
  • Track document revisions and manage version control
  • Provide feedback and training to authors
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Incorporate user feedback into documentation improvements
  • Assist in the development of documentation strategies and plans
  • Use specialized software tools for document management and editing
  • Participate in meetings to gather information and updates on projects
  • Conduct peer reviews and checks on technical content

Qualifications

Technical Editor Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field, or equivalent experience in technical writing, editing
  • Experience with content management systems and version control software
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience working on a large-scale government contract
  • Advanced understanding of technical writing principles and best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency in multiple software tools for document creation and editing
  • Experience with multimedia content, such as video tutorials or interactive guides
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and translate complex technical information
  • Proficiency with standard word processing and document management tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Familiarity with technical documentation standards and best practices
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

 

 


Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
