The Operations Supervisor will provide support to the Operations Manager in scheduling and logistics, team member development, customer engagement, safety program implementation, process and procedure execution, and general facility management at Savage's Woodhaven Transload and Transportation operations. This operation includes the loading of HAZMAT fuel.
What you'll be doing:
- Loading and transloading railcars from the pipeline
- Operate rail car loading systems and equipment
- Lead and manage a small team, collaborating with management and customer partners
- Ability to perform work safely and productively
- Enforces safety policies and procedures with Team Members
- Assist with other duties within the facility
What you'll need:
- Ability to work independently in an industrial setting, effectively balancing customer, company and team member needs
- Commitment to the safety and development of team members
- Effectively communicate on several different levels and with various stakeholders (customers, team members and other managers).
- Must be a hands-on, hardworking self-starter, with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Assist with the professionalism & cleanliness of the operation through consistent use of our 5S principles/system.
- Must be willing to be on call for overnight switching outside of normal operating hours.
Requirements of a successful supervisor:
- Minimum 1 year of experience supervising or managing crews.
- Prior experience in Transload bulk hazardous materials a plus but not required.
- Experience in general maintenance, Boiler, or mechanical skills and repair (Preferred).
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of computers and related hardware/software
- General knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the transportation industry.
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role
- Ability to work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps)
- Physically able to climb up and down rail cars/ladders safely
- Comfortable with heights -
- Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
- In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)
