Position Overview:

 

The successful candidate will be managing all facility mechanical operations on a day-to-day basis, including equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, routine, and repairs to rail cars. The goal of the position is to ensure facility and team efficiency, safety is maintained. 

 

 Here is what you will be doing

  • Lead maintenance activities, production, and spare part inventories to ensure no delays during production
  • Sensitive, Responsible, and Compliant with the Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements of SAVAGE and regulatory institutions
  • Understand all systems related to locomotive and bulk loading process and all moving parts related to such bulk material handling systems (rotating, pneumatic, static equipment)
  • Understand preventative maintenance programs for electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation of all such related to the carwash and deheeling facility.
  • Understand and repair systems related to Rail, Locomotive, static, and motion scale systems
  • Complete and input daily required paperwork into the computerized maintenance system (manager plus)
  • Should have the capability to read and interpret Mechanical, Electrical and Process drawings
  • Properly inspect equipment prior to, and post shift, and report any additional maintenance needs. 
  • Conduct frequent audits on the Locomotive and other equipment
  • Maintain a clean workspace by removing trash and debris from all areas of responsibility, including structures, offices, restrooms, break rooms, vehicles, Locomotive, etc. – champion Savage's approach to 5S
  • Manage spare/critical parts inventory, keeping necessary amounts of inventory in stock to reduce any delays or failures
  • Lead the team is all aspects, promoting safety and ensuring cross-training for all Team members.
  • Look for opportunities to assist other personnel, operators, and managers with tasks, even if they seem outside of the realm of typical normal duties 

Requirements of a successful Operation Maintenance Supervisor

  • At least 5 years' supervisory experience with Operations and Maintenance
  • Rail car repair experience required.
  • Familiar with FRA, AAR standards
  • Experience executing planned and scheduled maintenance activities with a focus to reduce emergency and reactive work
  • Familiar with material moving equipment repair and or heavy equipment
  • Able to read, write, and understand English  
  • Must be able to handle the physical aspects of the position: lift 50 lbs., swing a 10 lb. sledgehammer, walk several miles a day, climb, stoop, crawl and work on elevated surfaces

Industry Background:

  • Maintenance: Mechanically inclined and have worked in jobs that require you to have the ability to troubleshoot or fix mechanical breakdowns on a large scale, knowledgeable in mobile and fixed equipment design
  • Industrial Operations: experience with Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out, having high safety standards, and knowledge of dangers when working in these types of environments.
  • Material Handling: experience in bulk handling, pneumatic conveyance.

  • Ability to work outdoors in any condition and not afraid of heights
  • Must be willing to be on call 24/7 - 365 days a year
