The Director of Operational Reliability leads the execution for Schreiber US asset reliability, maintenance excellence, and facilities engineering. Reporting to the SVP/VP of Engineering/Operations, this position will manage and oversee processes and strategies that will design, maintain and improve operational effectiveness, asset utilization, and facility utility and building construction strategies across the US. Ensures safe, compliant, and highly available operations by designing for reliability, optimizing asset performance, reducing unplanned downtime, and managing facilities infrastructure across sites. The director will build and sustain a data driven, standards based reliability culture that delivers year over year improvements in OEE, maintenance cost, energy use, and risk. Primary focus and accountability is with our US manufacturing network however there is some occasional support required for all of business operations areas including globally. This position has heavy cross functional interaction within the operations, maintenance, engineering, supply chain, finance, and Global IT.
This position will be located in Green Bay, WI at our Home Office location.
Relocating candidates (50+ miles) are eligible for $10,000 relocation bonus PLUS a generous relocation package
Job Duties Include:
- Build, lead, coach, mentor, and develop high performing maintenance, reliability & facilities engineering teams reinforcing process and analytical strategies for data driven decision making principles while instilling a safety-first culture of accountability, results, continuous improvement, cross-functional alignment, and ensure transparent performance communication.
- Lead maintenance excellence through RCM and TPM strategy, standardized processes, data integrity, workforce development, cost optimization, and turnaround readiness.
- Lead reliability engineering through failure elimination, predictive technologies, equipment standards, and advanced analytics to prioritize investments.
- Develop asset review strategies to optimize and provide recommendations for the organization that drive cost-effective decisions and recommendations for asset management strategies.
- Oversee facilities infrastructure design, performance, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, and capital projects to ensure safe, sustainable, and reliable operations.
- Establish measurement criteria and process for providing specific feedback and improvement opportunities to leaders on an ongoing basis company wide.
- Identify opportunities and deliver measurable improvement to Schreiber profit. Act as a center of excellence for cross-functional or other teams as they care for and operate company assets.
- Govern reliability standards, CMMS/EAM roadmap, budgeting, and vendor partnerships to ensure system integrity and financial stewardship.
This role requires:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; Masters preferred. Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- 12+ years of leadership in manufacturing environment.
- 7+ years of Maintenance or Reliability Management in food processing or packaging environment.
- 4+ years of facility/utility engineering, design, maintenance, leadership preferred.
- Certifications in CMRP/CMRT, CRE, PMP, PE (state), ISO 55001 asset management familiarity preferred.
- Reliability Engineering - Demonstrated leadership in asset care and leadership in analyzing failure modes, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and using data-driven approaches to improve system dependability, maximize asset utilization, and reduce maintenance and overall costs. Knowledge in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Technologies, and CMMS/EAM Systems (Oracle, Hexagon, Ultimo, Maximo). Proficiency with analytics and reliability methods (RCA, FMEA, Weibull, condition monitoring, criticality, life cycle costing).
- Maintenance Management - Demonstrated leadership and involvement in optimizing equipment, systems and people in a manufacturing environment. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in developing strategies to extend equipment lifecycles and supports operational excellence. Knowledge of industrial standards and regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ASME; PSM where applicable).
- Financial Acumen - Data driven leadership with strong financial acumen. Data analytics & KPI Reporting (Power BI/Tableau). Effectively manages project resources to optimize return on investment, evaluate of financial impact of technical decisions and contributes to forecasting and planning to ensure projects meet both performance and financial objectives.
- Team Leadership - Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and develop multi-site teams (hourly, salaried, plant, corporate) in achieving project and individual development and growth goals. Has demonstrated effectiveness in resolving conflict and influencing others to meet industry and customer requirements.
- Cross-functional collaboration - Demonstrated ability to influence others from the plant floor to executive level to achieve strategic growth plans and expected results. Manages vendor and contractor communications across multiple platforms.
- Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement - Demonstrated ability to reduce downtime and optimize resource allocation to improve overall operational efficiencies that drive results and profitability. Utilizes systems thinking and risk based decision making.
- Tools and Technologies: CMMS/EAM and data visualization tools. Predictive maintenance platforms and sensors; reliability analytics. CAD/BIM for facilities; energy management systems; digital twins (preferred). ISO 55001 / Asset Management Standards (preferred) TPM / Lean Manufacturing (preferred) Proficient in MS Office.
