Construction Litigation – Associate or Counsel – Los Angeles Downtown

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Litigation Associate or Counsel with 4-7 years of complex construction litigation experience to join our Los Angeles – Downtown office. Learn more about our Construction Litigation department here: https://www.seyfarth.com/services/practices/litigation/construction-claims-and-disputes.html

 

 THE DAY-TO-DAY:

As part of the Construction Litigation Team, you'll have the opportunity to work on interesting, challenging, and groundbreaking cases in collaboration with senior attorneys. 

 

YOU HAVE

  • 4-7 years of high-caliber experience with general commercial construction, complex construction projects, and infrastructure projects;
  • The ideal candidate will have experience representing owners, contractors, design professional, and/or sureties in the drafting, negotiating, and administration of contracts as well as domestic litigation; experience with some of the following construction matters:  procurement-related issues, contract administration, risk management, dispute avoidance, claim documentation, equitable adjustments, impact and delay claims, default terminations, change order and extra work disputes, requests for equitable adjustments, payment and performance bond claims, mechanics' liens, prompt payment and conditional payment disputes, construction and design defects, and bid protests.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions and working with expert witnesses;
  • Stellar writing ability and excellent academic credentials, as writing ability is critical for this position (we ask that you submit two writing samples with your application);
  • Strong analytical and verbal communication and negotiation skills;
  • Candidate must be admitted to the California State Bar.

PAY TRANSPARENCY 

 

The salary range for this role is $275,000 to $320,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Los Angeles. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
