THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a real estate paralegal, you will assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financing and leasing. You will be a member of the firm's Real Estate department, reporting to the attorneys on your team.

 

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

On any given day, you will:

  • Order and review title commitments, exception documents and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies
  • Prepare title objection letters and negotiate title policies and endorsements.
  • Prepare and administer contract critical dates and closing checklists.
  • Coordinate and assist with all aspects of closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, signature page packages, notices and other closing documents.
  • Attend to all post-closing requirements, including preparation of closing indices, organization of closing binders, and monitoring of all post-closing deliveries and requirements with regular updates to applicable attorneys.
  • Prepare clear and concise correspondence and memorandum.
  • Prepare initial draft documents, amendments to agreements or leases and miscellaneous documents, including estoppel certificates, SNDAs and Memos of Lease for attorney review.
  • Review organizational and authority documents, prepare formations, obtain EINs.
  • Order and review UCC Lien, PACER and other searches.

     

    YOU HAVE:

  • At least 5 years of full-time experience in a fast-paced environment with commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, financing and leasing. Law firm and in-house experience will be considered.
  • A Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook or similar mail and calendar technology.
  • Legal research skills and knowledge of relevant databases.
  • Strong writing, organizational, people and communication skills.
