Assembly Process Quality Inspector I

2nd Shift

Position Summary: This Position is responsible for maintaining the required build documentation as required to be complete and add build stations with the cooperation and help of the line management.  This Position will also be responsible for visual-functional inspection of product and build process in compliance with Work Instructions and jobs with included BOM's.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regular on-site attendance/punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • Verification that the documented build processes are being followed and that the firearms are being produced meet SIG Sauer's specifications.
  • Inspection of fished goods for any functional issues as well as compliance with Sig Sauer's standards.
  • Verification that the documented packing processes are being followed and the packaging is complete to the Job.
  • Maintain the integrity of working documents, and receipt numbers as well as updating documentation.
  • Work closely with Quality Leadership and Engineering to prepare proper documentation for build lines
  • Communicate effectively to supervision and peers, regarding needs, problems, and corrective actions.
  • Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and productivity of builds.
  • Participate in engineering Root Cause and troubleshooting processes, PPI Projects, 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Participate in all required activities, and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be highly organized and process-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills in order to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Have excellent listening skills and be able to handle multiple requests/tasks.
  • Ability to use PC systems, copiers and programs including but not limited: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, as well as skills in MRP systems (e.g., Oracle)

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
