This cloud-native environment supports multiple applications, networks, and databases, requiring disciplined configuration control and data governance to ensure mission success, system integrity, and regulatory compliance.
This role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and a foundational understanding of cloud and DevSecOps environments. While not a technical role, the CMDM Lead must be able to collaborate effectively with technical experts and stakeholders across engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, and operations.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Manage personnel, prioritize tasks, coordinate across functional teams, and deliver outcomes in alignment with estabilished configuration management plans, data governance policies, and project milestones.
- Lead and manage the configuration and data management team responsible for tracking, documenting, and controlling system baselines, data artifacts, and change processes.
- Maintain and execute the Configuration and Data Management Plan, ensuring alignment with DoD standards such as EIA-649, MIL-STD-973, and NIST SP 800-53.
- Oversee the configuration control process, including the facilitation of Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Configuration Management Boards (CMBs), Risk Management Boards (RMBs), change request workflows, and audit readiness.
- Track the status of configuration items and data artifacts across systems, ensuring traceability and accuracy throughout the lifecycle.
- Coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, developers, sustainment, information technology, and operations teams to ensure configuration and data requirements are captured, communicated, and met.
- Establish priorities, assign tasks, and monitor team performance to ensure timely delivery of configuration documentation, reports, and data deliverables.
- Support the integration and synchronization of configuration/data activities across multiple environments, including cloud infrastructure, applications, external systems, and data lakes.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and alignment with program objectives.
- Review and improve internal workflows to enhance team effectiveness, reduce errors, and maintain compliance with customer expectations and DoD policies.
- Provide hardware and software tracking as they relate to configuration-controlled assets, lifecycle tracking, and system readiness reporting.
- Provide the framework to configuration control policies, procedures, and guidance across the stated teams.
- Provide the framework for data management hierarchy.
