Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

  • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience supporting Navy submarine systems or weapon systems integration.

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.

  • Demonstrated expertise in technical authority roles within NAVSEA, SSP, or similar Navy acquisition organizations.

  • Extensive experience supporting SSBN or SSN platform design, weapons system certification, or missile system integration.

  • Familiarity with Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS), Common Missile Compartment (CMC), and ship specification processes.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with Strategic Systems Programs, especially SSP's Reentry Branch.
  • US Navy Submarine Officer experience.
  • Experience working with DoD engineering and acquisition processes.
  • Experience with US Government acquisition, US government budgeting and project planning.


Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Advisor will serve as the lead engineering authority supporting the technical development and stand-up of the Sea-Launched Cruise Missile–Nuclear (SLCM-N) program. This role is responsible for guiding the development and maintenance of the system architecture, interface requirements, and technical baselines spanning missile systems, platform integration, test infrastructure, and certification planning. The advisor will lead coordination across Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), NAVSEA, and other DoD stakeholders to ensure alignment of engineering efforts with program milestones and acquisition objectives.

 

Additional responsibilities include overseeing engineering risk management, shaping the research and development roadmap, and supporting long-lead technical planning and investment strategies. The Senior Technical Advisor will represent the program at technical interchanges, executive-level briefings, and other working groups, providing authoritative input on system readiness, integration challenges, and design maturity. This position will also contribute to team development by mentoring junior engineers and reinforcing a culture of engineering rigor and technical excellence within the program office.
