The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future. SPA has an immediate need for a Senior-level SETA Team Lead to provide onsite support in Arlington, VA. Responsibilities The candidate will support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Program Manager (PM) by participating in or leading all activities in project management, technical and programmatic risk analysis, and program-funded test coordination. As a Lead in our fast-paced Strategic Technology Office (STO), will play a critical role in SPA's mission by providing strategic assistance for the day-to-day operations. The Technical Lead SETA role will support a new program and other classified/unclassified efforts in a diverse DARPA STO portfolio. Will help in finalizing program details, program budget/metrics, all in the areas of modeling & simulation, machine learning, and computer networking. To keep up with a fast-moving portfolio, DARPA seeks a candidate who excels under pressure, seeks continuous challenges, and delivers results through direct action rather than excessive deliberation. The candidate will be the primary POC on a fast-moving classified technical program that will include coordinating across POCs at multiple government agencies. Modest travel will be required. The candidate will be supporting the PM team with technical action officer-like duties including developing technical documentation and briefs to communicate program status, coordinating activities that drive efficient execution of programs, developing plans, making recommendations, and facilitating efficient operations across the PM's portfolio. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree. 5+ years of experience Active TS/SCI clearance and be clearable to the SAP level. Understand the basics of Machine Learning and Reinforcement Learning techniques. Ability to communicate effectively and possess excellent oral and writing skills. Self-starter and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Able to work fully onsite based on client needs. Desired: Prior experience working programs at DARPA as a technical and program management support contractor. Knowledge of DARPA processes and procedures. Demonstrated ability to maintain exceptional organization while operating at high speed. Natural adaptability and resilience with proven success in dynamic environments. Strong executor who works with team and independent of detailed instruction to drive projects to completion without delay. Confident communication style with ability to influence at all levels within industry and government. Track record of embracing and leading change. Proactive problem-solver who can pivot and balance shifting and/or competing priorities. Degree in physics, signal processing, or math.
