The Strategic Division (SD) supports high-reliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Department of Energy (DOE), among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services, such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, cost estimating, earned value management, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention.
The Surety Programs Group (SPG) supports government and private sector management of complex safety, security, and reliability programs for high consequence operations. SPG delivers industry-leading, innovative, and value-added services such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention to help our clients understand and mitigate mission risks spanning physical, cyber, and human domains. SPG is hiring for an immediate need for a Safety Systems Engineer on the Safety Team to provide onsite support at SPA HQ in Alexandria, VA.
Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will support Navy SSP in providing vision, direction, and oversight of safety planning in support of Strategic Weapons Safety and Nuclear Weapons Safety. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated professional interested in providing technical, data-driven support combined with strategy-informed analysis of defense-related topics. Responsibilities include:
- Apply a passion for solving challenging and time-critical safety problems in both leadership and supporting roles.
- Participate in and lead analyses and assessments that integrate technical, operational, and programmatic aspects across various elements of the DoW.
- Support cross-functional, high-performance teams conducting quantitative and qualitative safety analysis to inform decision makers.
- Manage multiple tasks concurrently, often with constrained timelines
- Includes direct engagement with external clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work full-time, 5 days a week, at SPA HQ in Alexandria with occasional visits to Washington Navy Yard as needed.
- Active SECRET clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM; Degree preferred in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of related systems or safety engineering professional experience.
- Self-motivated individual with critical thinking, problem solving, time-management, and interpersonal skills; able to work well individually and as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in safety related field.
- Experience with concepts related to Hazards of Electromagentic Radiation to Ordnance, Personnel, and Fuel (HERO/P/F) and Electromagentic Interference/Electromagentic Compatibility (EMI/EMC).
- Experience with MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, OP3565 Vol2 and/or OP3565 Vol1.
Pay Range Information

Elements of the compensation package include competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. The specific programs and options available to any given employee may vary depending on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, etc. Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Virginia, Pay Transparency Salary range: USD $120,000.00/Yr. - USD $140,000.00/Yr.
