Veracity Forecasting Portfolio (VFP) is part of the Sea, Land, Air Division within Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. Our unique processes result in authoritative, data-driven analyses that assist enterprise managers with complex decision making. We offer our customers proven expertise in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics; advanced mathematics and computational techniques (a.k.a. data science); and software engineering. Locations: We staff two offices, one in Alexandria, VA, and the other in Perry, UT. The preferred location for the UI/UX developer position would be at the Perry, UT location. Our work style is highly matrixed, so you'll partner with developers, analysts, researchers, product owners, and fellow designers across multiple projects and disciplines. And we think that's where the magic happens.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated Frontend Developer that will design and build the user interface and experience for our customer-facing software programs. This work includes:
- Translating complex user goals into clean usable interfaces
- Owning the design process from initial concept to code, creating user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups before building them in production
- Architecting intuitive interfaces and controls for complex information
- Building robust states to manage long-running, asynchronous background jobs
- Creating interactive controls to handle multi-variable inputs
- Integrating backend APIs smoothly into the frontend
- Integrating AI-powered workflows from design to implementation
- Iterating quickly—sketch, prototype, test, refine—always keeping the user at the center
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Math, Applied Math, Chemistry, Statistics)
- Excellent software engineering skills with 6+ years of professional experience in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C/C++, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Rust
- Advanced proficiency with JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- Production experience with modern component frameworks and software tooling such as React, Vue, Angular, Svelte and Vite
- Fluency with Git, code reviews and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with unit and integration testing for front-end applications
- Experience in best practices and quality management for software engineers
- Sustained attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a desire to work on and solve challenging problems, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- U.S. citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in STEM field
- Experience with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools for wireframing and storyboarding.
- Experience with database design (SQL), backend frameworks (Flask, FastAPI), AWS and/or other cloud services
- Experience with Department of Defense and/or Department of Navy
