Position/PCN: Records Technician-Special Education Office, Matsu Borough School District Administrative Building
Position FTE: 1.0 FTE
Pay Grade: 7
Starting Wage: $19.77
Days Per Year: 221 Days/Year
Class Summary: Under supervision monitors required federal, state, and district mandated records related to students with disabilities. Works at the direction of the department Director to maintain necessary data and provide reporting elements as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The Special Education Records Technician is a stand-alone classification. It is distinguished from other classifications by its responsibility for working with student records and compliance related to students with disabilities and related areas.
Knowledge: General knowledge of office practices, equipment, filing methods. Understanding of Student Support Services structure, programs and procedures. Understanding of Special Education compliance protocols.
Skills (position requirements at entry): Must have basic skills in utilizing computer and related software applications. Must be able to utilize established methods of filing, gathering and organizing data. Must have experience preparing reports and reviewing and interpreting program regulations and requirements. Must have communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interacting with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc sufficient to exchange or convey information and receive work directions, this could include demonstrated phone and email etiquette. Proficiency in excel, word, powerpoint a minimum.
Training and Experience (position requirements at entry): High School Diploma or G.E.D. and three years of detailed program experience; or, and combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as listed above.
Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): A valid Alaska Driver's License.
Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
