What You Will Get To Do:
This position is responsible for providing expert advice and support to managers and employees on workplace issues, ensuring compliance with Australian employment laws, managing conflicts, conducting investigations, and promoting positive employee relations within the organisation, with a deep understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 as a key requirement.
Advising on Employment Law: Provide guidance to managers and employees on interpreting and applying Australian employment law, including issues related to performance management, disciplinary action, leave entitlements, termination of employment, and workplace bullying/harassment.
Conflict Resolution: Facilitate constructive dialogue between employees and managers to resolve workplace disputes, including mediation and conflict coaching, aiming for amicable solutions.
Workplace Investigations: Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints related to misconduct, performance issues, discrimination, or harassment, ensuring due process and documenting findings effectively.
Case Management: Manage a caseload of employee relations issues, track progress, escalate complex cases to senior HR, and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
Policy Interpretation: Interpret and apply company employment policies, ensuring consistency and fairness in decision-making.
Training and Development: Deliver training programs to managers on key employee relations topics like performance management, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act 2009, and stay updated on legislative changes.
What You Will Bring:
A bachelor's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field is preferred.
4-6 years' relevant experience as an Employee Relations Partner, managing industrial relations issues and some experience of union environment. Alternatively, proven experience in a generalist HR role with a strong focus on employee relations.
Deep understanding of Australian employment law: Thorough knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009, including awards, enterprise agreements, and relevant case law.
Conflict resolution expertise: Proven ability to effectively manage and resolve workplace conflicts through mediation and other techniques.
Investigative skills: Experience conducting thorough and impartial workplace investigations, adhering to due process.
Strong communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees, managers, and senior leadership.
Analytical skills: Ability to analyse data and trends to identify potential employee relations issues and develop proactive solutions.
Relationship building: Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
Proficient in MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Nice to have: HR certification, Workday, Union relations, other equivalent HRCMS experience
