What You Will Get To Do:
The Manager, Risk & Compliance provides first-line oversight of regulatory compliance and risk controls, ensuring SS&C meets its obligations across APRA, ASIC and AUSTRAC.
The role focuses on translating regulatory and contractual requirements into effective risk controls, overseeing regulatory reporting and incident-related compliance obligations, and strengthening the Line 1 risk and control framework.
Working closely with the Head of Line 1 Risk & Compliance, Regulatory Change and Enablement Lead, Line 2 Risk & Compliance, Legal, Client Service and Operational teams, focuses on translating regulatory and contractual obligations, and the outcomes of regulatory change, into practical risk controls, ensuring the control environment keeps pace with obligations and that gaps are identified and closed in partnership with the business.
Oversee first-line regulatory compliance and risk controls across APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC, FATCA and CRS obligations, as well as relevant client and contractual requirements.
Translate regulatory and contractual obligations into practical, effective and embedded risk controls, identifying gaps and prioritising remediation.
Develop and maintain the regulatory and contractual controls library, ensuring controls remain aligned with evolving business and regulatory requirements.
Support the development and maintenance of RCSAs, KRIs and the Line 1 risk and compliance framework, including ongoing control effectiveness reviews.
Provide oversight and quality assurance of regulatory reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance with obligations and adherence to critical reporting deadlines.
Support the identification, assessment and escalation of regulatory breaches, reporting gaps, control breakdowns and compliance risks.
Partner with the Incidents & Complaints team to ensure root cause findings are reflected in control improvements, RCSAs and KRIs.
Ensure regulatory controls and processes remain aligned with APRA CPS 230, CPS 234 and other relevant regulatory standards.
Support internal and external audits, maintaining audit readiness, providing control evidence and overseeing remediation of audit findings.
Act as a trusted risk and compliance advisor to operational teams, supporting the effective implementation and ongoing operation of controls.
Work closely with the Regulatory Change & Enablement Lead to translate regulatory change outcomes into updated controls, processes and risk assessments.
Collaborate with Line 2 Risk & Compliance, Legal, Finance and Operations to ensure a consistent and effective approach to regulatory risk management.
Identify opportunities to streamline compliance processes, reduce manual effort and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the control environment.
Drive continuous improvement across compliance, risk controls, reporting and governance processes.
What You Will Bring:
5+ years' experience in compliance, risk, controls or obligations management within financial services, fund administration or transfer agency environments.
Strong ability to analyse regulatory and contractual obligations and translate them into practical, risk-based controls.
Hands-on experience with Line 1 risk and control frameworks, RCSAs, KRIs and controls libraries, including identifying control gaps and driving remediation.
Sound knowledge of APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC, FATCA, CRS and other relevant financial services regulations.
Experience mapping obligations to risks and controls and assessing control design and effectiveness.
Experience translating incident root causes and regulatory findings into control enhancements and risk mitigations.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, Line 2 Risk & Compliance, Regulatory Change, Incidents & Complaints, Operations and Audit teams.
Demonstrated experience managing control uplift, remediation and continuous improvement initiatives within an operational environment.
Experience supporting internal and external audits, regulatory reviews and the remediation of audit findings.
Exposure to incident management and complaints processes from a risk, controls or compliance perspective is highly regarded.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex issues and drive practical outcomes.
Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality papers and reports for management, boards and committees.
Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously while managing competing priorities and strict regulatory and client deadlines.
