Title: Retirement Plan Design Specialist II

Location: Hybrid – Braintree, MA, Kansas City, MO or Dublin, OH –

The Plan Design Team provides document and regulatory services for Retirement Solutions. The Plan Design Specialists focus on providing consultative services for qualified retirement plans (401(k)), 401(a), 403(b), and 457), including but not limited to; pre-sale support, post-sale support, document design, amendments, restatements and regulatory changes. The Plan Design Specialists utilize their ERISA knowledge and experience to design a plan or make recommendations that meet the company's goals and objectives. The Plan Design Specialists work closely with associates in Plan Administration, Plan Implementation & Conversion and Reporting & Testing.

What You Will Get To Do:

Understanding Client Needs

  • Assessing Financial Goals: Discuss the importance of understanding clients' short-term and long-term financial goals.
  • Risk Tolerance: Explain how to evaluate clients' risk tolerance to tailor retirement plans accordingly.
  • Current Financial Situation: Highlight the need to review clients' current financial status, including assets, liabilities, and income sources.

Plan Design and Strategy

  • Customized Plans: Emphasize the creation of personalized retirement plans that align with clients' unique needs and goals.
  • Investment Options: Discuss various investment options available within retirement plans, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs.
  • Tax Efficiency: Explain strategies to maximize tax efficiency within retirement plans.

Regulatory Compliance

  • ERISA Guidelines: Outline the importance of adhering to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) guidelines.
  • Fiduciary Responsibility: Discuss the fiduciary duties and responsibilities involved in managing retirement plans.

Plan Implementation and Management

  • Plan Setup: Describe the steps involved in setting up a retirement plan, including documentation and regulatory filings.
  • Ongoing Management: Highlight the importance of regular plan reviews and adjustments to ensure they remain aligned with clients' goals.
  • Employee Education: Stress the need for educating employees about their retirement plan options and benefits.

Communication and Support

  • Client Communication: Emphasize the importance of clear and consistent communication with clients.
  • Support Services: Discuss the various support services available to clients, such as financial planning tools and resources.

Trends and Innovations

  • Technology Integration: Talk about the role of technology in enhancing retirement plan management and client experience.
  • Market Trends: Share insights on current market trends and how they impact retirement planning.

The Impact You Will Make:

  • Bachelors and 2 years of work-related experience, or Master's degree or 4 years equivalent work-related experience.
  • Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Department of Labor (DOL), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations.
  • Plan design and document language.
  • TRAC, AWD, Relius, or FT Williams systems experience
  • Strong communications skills. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing in order to prepare detailed plan reviews and discuss workflow with internal and external parties.
  • Analytical/Problem Solving Skills. Ability to analyze, evaluate issues and provide guidance regarding actual and potential problems. Must display keen attention to details.
  • Organizational, time management and project management skills. Ability to manage heavy and dynamic caseload and time pressures. Generally, conducts multiple plan evaluations simultaneously.
  • Able to work in the local office 6 days per month – REQUIRED
