Overview

Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting dynamic opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Master Electrician.

 

A BGS Master Electrician performs highly skilled electrical work for BGS, involving the design, installation and maintenance of routine and complex systems including fire alarm systems.

 

This is a full-time position and the hours are 7a.m. to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. The position requires a valid driver's license and succesful completion of a background check. The starting hourly rate for this position is $26.57 to $32.84.

 

The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within state Government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their missions. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed at state buildings including correctional facilities and psychiatric care facilities. Contact with inmates and patients may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Electrical repairs may entail exposure to live electrical parts, for which protective clothing must be worn. This position may require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present. Position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a current valid State of Vermont Master Electrician License.
