Overview
Highly technical work involving management activities, monitoring of records standards, and release/disclosure processes of inpatient records for The Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital. Duties include maintenance of records and production of reports to comply with Medicare, Medicaid, and State of Vermont regulations. Work is performed under the direction of the VPCH Quality Director. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

Additionally, in accordance with AHS Policy 4.02 - Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates. Environmental FactorsDuties are performed primarily in an office and facility setting, as well as on the patient occupied units. Health Information (HI) Specialist will work closely with the Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nursing, and Administration, as well as patients and the general public. Occasional travel outside of The Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Some pressure from deadlines may occur.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Associates Degree, preferably with a focus in Health Information Administration.
AND
Experience: Two years creating, researching or reviewing medical records.
OR
Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
AND
Experience: Four years creating, researching or reviewing medical records.
Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates with extensive office organization and health records management experience in addition to a working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
