Overview
The Department of Environmental Conservation has an opportunity for a Grants Specialist I to develop, create, and monitor grants out activities. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized person to perform professional and technical work involving the procurement of goods and services, grant drafting, and administration of grant agreements. Join a high performing team of dedicated staff. This position has the responsibility for writing grants, MOAs, MOUs, RFPs, RFIs, and RFAs. The position will work directly with technical project managers and plays a key role in helping to provide financial assistance to municipalities, businesses, and people throughout Vermont. This work requires a high degree of responsibility for working with internal staff and external customers. Candidates must be able to manage multiple priorities and keep track of grants and agreements throughout their terms. We provide a very supportive working environment with a strong team ethic.
The Department of Environmental Conservation currently operates in a hybrid working environment, supporting remote work as well as Core Days in which all staff are in the office. Permission to participate in telework is applied for on an individual basis.
Who May ApplyThis position, Grants Specialist - Limited Service (Job Requisition #52374), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. On-site compliance reviews, hearings, meetings and committee obligations requires travel for which private means of transportation should be available. Some work outside of regular work schedule may be anticipated. A need to confront grantees with contract and grant requirements may arise frequently. Some pressure from deadlines may be anticipated.
Minimum QualificationsThree (3) years or more of experience in the development, evaluation, administration, or fiscal monitoring of grants or contracts.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree.
Graduate work in public administration or accounting.
