Overview

Do you have a background in curriculum design? Are you an experienced trainer or engagement specialist who has managed the design and delivery of virtual as well as in-class training? If you are a learning and development professional with a passion for driving employee growth and engagement, then the State of Vermont Department of Human Resources (DHR) Workforce Development Division is looking for you!

 

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of adult learning theories and instructional design principles and be able to translate strategic initiatives and values into employee learning solutions. This role involves self-directed initiative in creating and facilitating in-class and virtual training for State employees, supervisors, and leaders; assessing training and related needs for services; and coaching supervisors at a professional level. The work includes collaborating with other trainers within the department and across state government, participating in meetings and planning sessions, and using technology to facilitate these activities. The role requires the ability to generate new content in areas beyond personal expertise through research and engagement.

 

Experience in creating and facilitating training with an inclusivity lens preferred. The Department of Human Resources is currently supporting a hybrid telework environment.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in an office and/or classroom setting, with some in-state travel required to attend meetings and to serve client organizations. Some work outside of the normal work schedule may be required. Strong differences of opinion and emotionally charged situations may be encountered. Consecutive, full training and/or facilitation days will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Professional certification, or bachelor's degree or higher, in one or more of the following: adult learning, human resources, organizational development, leadership development, and/or public administration; AND two (2) years or more experience that includes either supervisory experience or training others in the concepts and practices of supervisory skills AND any combination of the following: developing training programs, teaching or facilitating programs for adults, providing consulting services to an organization, or one-on-one coaching of adult learners;

OR

High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more experience that includes supervisory experience AND any combination of the following: developing training programs, teaching or facilitating programs for adults, providing consulting services to an organization, or one-on-one coaching of adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience developing and delivering on-line training programs.

Professional certification or bachelor's degree with a major addressing one or more of the following: adult learning, human resources, organizational development, leadership development, and/or public administration.
