Overview

The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) will be holding a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) training program. The class is scheduled to begin in November. The training period will be thirty-five (35) days in length for 5.5 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays. Successful candidates will be hired as paid temporary employees for the duration of the class. The training class will be a combination of classroom and clinical training

 

Applicants who are selected for the training program and successfully complete the course and pass both the written and clinical examinations will be eligible to apply for LNA positions on the evening shift at VVH.

This position, LNA Training Program (Job Requsition #50962), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Any person who has had a charge of abuse, neglect or exploitation substantiated against him or her OR who has been convicted of an offense for actions related to bodily injury, theft or misuse of funds or property is not eligible under the Vermont Veterans' Home licensing requirements. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a long-term care and residential care setting. Incumbents may be assigned to any area of the facility and to any shift. Requires standing for long periods of time, walking for extended periods and distances, sitting, repetitive movements, bending, twisting, stretching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Duties require regular and direct interaction with residents with varying degrees of physical and mental illness, dementia, infectious diseases, severe physical and mental limitations, and residents who may display unpredictable behavior. Incumbents predictably encounter high levels of stress and emotional situations, exposure to potentially physically and verbally violent patient populations and exposure to infectious disease.
