Overview

The Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Mobile Unit Coordinator.

 

This position will work at mobile unit locations for the DMV throughout Vermont. Work involves review, verification, coding and processing of applications for all types of motor vehicle registrations, driver licenses and identification cards. Duties include completing all types of applications, accountability for all fees and audits, complete daily deposits, complete weekly statistics, respond to emails for the information unit, complete supply orders, correct batch errors and are required to conduct exams which involves the administration of written exams, road exams and Commercial Knowledge testing.

 

Supervision is exercised over subordinate Direct Client Support Specialists. Duties are performed under the direction of a District Office Supervisor.

In accordance with Title 23, Section 102(d), an applicant must agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position. The background investigation may include criminal, financial and traffic records checks. Hiring managers will notify applicants who are in the final stage of the interview process of the finger-printing and background check requirement, to which an applicant must agree to be deemed eligible for this position. Applicants will have the right to withdraw their applications before finger-printing and/or a background investigation is conducted. 

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in an office environment at various district sites. There is constant public contact at a counter dealing with customers, some of whom may be confused, frustrated, and highly agitated. Accountable for large sums of money. Daily travel is required to the designated site. Duties require lifting and carrying supplies and moving equipment from a vehicle to a building in all weather conditions. Trips out of the building to verify vehicle identification numbers are required. Work outside of normal hours may be required. Some travel for which private means of transportation may be required. Conducts various types of examinations including written, road and Commercial knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) or more years of college coursework AND two (2) years or more of experience in intermediate or higher level clerical work.

OR

High school graduation or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of experience at an intermediate or higher level clerical work INCLUDING two (2) years of public contact and/or customer service experience.

 

Note: Preference will be given to candidates with prior Motor Vehicle Department experience.

Special Requirements

An applicant's vision must be correctable to 20/20 (Snellen Test) in both eyes, with normal color perception and field of vision.

A valid driver's license is required.
