Overview
The State of Vermont Information Center Division is seeking a motivated, self-starting individual with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to promote Vermont and welcome visitors to our State. This position will be located at the Lyndonville Information Center and the Derby Line Welcome Center which together hosts 100,000+ visitors annually.
Duties include a combination of customer service tasks involving greeting and providing information to visitors, map reading, and record keeping. This position also requires custodial tasks such as hourly cleaning of the rest rooms, mopping, snow removal (including shoveling and/or use of snowblower) and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidate must also possess the ability to use Microsoft Office software. Applicants must be self-starters and be able to work independently, highly motivated and task oriented, and possess attention to detail.
We have one permanent part-time position (32 hours per week) located on Interstate 91 Southbound. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are a must. This is a classified position in state government that includes health benefits, such as retirement, vacation days, and health care insurance. Weekend shift differential as well.
Position schedule is as follows:
- Lyndonville Information Center I-91 Southbound - Fridays and Saturdays 10:00am - 6:00pm
- Derby Line Welcome Center I-91 Southbound - Sundays and Mondays 10:00am - 6:00pm

Work is usually performed at an assigned facility. Duties may include the occasional lifting or carrying of up to 50 pounds. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. Some overtime work may be necessary. Incumbents must be able to work out of doors in all weather, and on rough and slippery ground. Field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available.
Minimum QualificationsOne (1) year or more of work experience that includes customer service.
Preferred QualificationsAbility to read and write.
Ability to read maps and complete internet searches.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook e-mail.
Experience in tourism, hospitality, recreation, marketing, public relations, or related field.
