Overview

Bluewater Federal is looking for a Network Engineer to support the Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command, The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).


Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, secure, and sustain NSWCDD's multi‑domain networks (unclassified and classified, including uRDT&E, cRDT&E, SDREN, JWICS, TS collateral/SCI stand‑alone), ensuring availability, resiliency, performance, and compliance with DoD/DON/NAVSEA policies and STIGs
  • Plan, design, engineer, install, administer, document, and maintain network services and infrastructure across production, test, and development environments (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, NAC, WAPs/Wi‑Fi, wireless/cellular integration, and encryption devices).
  • Implement Government‑provided architectures; generate or update network architecture and data‑flow diagrams
  • Configure and manage DNS/DHCP, IPAM, network monitoring, event management, performance/capacity optimization, and service availability management
  • Engineer Zero Trust‑aligned solutions
  • Configure/manage firewalls and IDS/IPS; maintain STIG compliance; perform vulnerability identification and remediation with associated checklist delivery.
  • Configure/maintain network encryption devices and support EKMS/KMI/COMSEC material processes
  • Support cloud/hybrid connectivity (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure), virtualized networks, and hybrid digital infrastructure management
  • Produce and maintain as‑built drawings, communications diagrams, and functional area logical diagrams; support site surveys
  • Provide on‑site/desk‑side response for outages or requests that cannot be handled remotely, arriving within 1 hour when required; support 24x7 callback for critical services

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in relation to design and implementation in local area LAN/ WAN corporate environments using Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP and VoIP technologies with routers, switches, fiber optics, firewalls and cable plant designs.
  • Must have a Security+ certification
  • Must have an active Top Secret clearance
  • Deep knowledge of DoD/DON/NAVSEA cyber policies, RMF, STIGs, PPSM, and NAO/FAO RMF business rules; proficiency applying these to enterprise network designs
  • Proficiency with enterprise monitoring and troubleshooting tools and methods; ability to generate after‑action and ad hoc performance reports.
  • Working proficiency with ITIL/ITSM, DESMF, and DevSecOps/Agile collaboration with Government, customers
  • Demonstrated experience across routing/switching, firewalling/IDS, NAC, encryption/COMSEC, wireless/5G integration, cloud interconnects, and network documentation
