Your Role:
The Insurance Cost Recovery Case Manager will support the Butte and El Dorado Counties for California. The ideal candidate will have experience in the recovery of insurance claims as it relates to the FEMA Public Assistance (PA) program. Duties include analyzing and reviewing insurance data for duplication of benefits and working with disaster survivors to explain and implement the requirements of the FEMA PA Program. Individuals in this position are expected to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidate needs to be able to make independent decisions regarding grant guidance; must be able to understand and interpret the federal grant eligibility and activities; and perform business related research to support client needs. Candidate should work with the team in the analysis, formulation, development and delivery of material and results.
· Works with Project Manager to ensure that the Disaster Recovery Program is effective in meeting the needs of the Applicant
· Work with disaster survivors on eliminating any potential duplications of benefits between Insurance Claims and Federal Disaster Assistance.
· Keep Project Manager informed on issues, problems & resolutions.
· Establish and maintain relationships with disaster survivors, insurance agency representatives, peers, and project manager.
· Review insurance policies, statements of loss, scope of work and cost estimates.
· Communicate the amount of duplication of benefits and associated backup documentation, if any.
· Optimize procedures and maintain communication and focus.
· Maintain, track cases assigned and provide input where necessary in the data management information system.
· Review project work sheets prepared by FEMA.
· Keeps informed and educated and works with the project management team to resolve problems
· Analyzes and resolves any unique project related events
· Design and ensure accurate project work records are maintained and accessible to meet applicant needs and auditory requirements
· Responds quickly to managers, supporting the implementation of projects and organizational efforts to ensure timely, cost effective delivery of high-quality products
· Handling sensitive disaster victim documentation such as policy information and payments received
· Maintaining the financial tracking system for payments received
· Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
· Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
· Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
· Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree and 3+ of related work experience with working knowledge of federal grant programs, specifically FEMA or FHWA programs, including related statutes, regulations, policies and processes. Four years additional industry experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
· Experience with state or federal grantor agencies is preferred.
· Strong interpersonal communications skills.
· Solid analytical skills.
· Strong organization skills required.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Time management skills
· Must possess professional proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically strong Excel skills) and the ability to learn project-specific computer systems as needed (specifically SharePoint, Access, and proprietary computer systems).
· Experience financial analysis is preferred.
· Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
