The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding an entry level engineer or scientist (graduating from college in May/June 2025) with interest in environmental compliance focused on Remediation, and Solid Waste Permitting, Landfill Design and CQA/construction oversight. This role will be based in our Farmington Hills, MI office.

Your Impact: 

 

This is an excellent opportunity for you to utilize your passion for science and engineering while working on civil/environmental engineering projects including: solid waste management, landfill gas control and monitoring, air quality testing and emissions, geotechnical engineering, stormwater design, hydrologic modeling, grading and topographic plans, environmental permitting, environmental monitoring, drafting (AutoCAD/CIVIL 3D), cost estimation, specifications, report preparation (Word/Excel), and construction quality assurance (CQA).  

Your Role:  

  • Prepare construction plans and specifications under direction of Project Manager. 

  • Perform engineering design calculations. 

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, environmental data, and aerial photographs. 

  • Prepare operations plans, work plans and environmental monitoring plans. 

  • Develop construction plans using AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D. 

  • Prepare construction cost estimations, track budgets and quantities. 

  • Collect and/or review environmental monitoring data (gas, stormwater, groundwater). 

  • Prepare reports (environmental reports, construction documentation, progress reports, etc.). 

  • Provide construction oversight (in the field) to monitor projects and document conformance with engineering plans, specifications and construction and safety standards. 

  • Conduct field investigations to determine existing conditions, perform testing, or collect samples.  

 

Your Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical or Geological Engineering or related field; experience in a civil or environmental engineering role preferred. 

  • Familiarity with landfill design, permitting or environmental monitoring a plus; knowledge of environmental regulations a plus. 

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite of programs (Excel, Word, Project, Powerpoint)  

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Solid organizational and time management skills. 

  • Self-disciplined/motivated individual who also works well in a team environment. 

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn. 

  • Unwavering personal integrity. 

  • Has obtained or will obtain Michigan EIT certification within 6 months of employment.
