The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech's Chicago, IL office is seeking an Entry level Environmental Scientist to assist with environmental data management, site assessments, regulatory compliance, and more as assigned. This will include the selected candidate to support in environmental compliance and sustainability tasks within field and office settings.

Essential Job Functions:
Support permitting and compliance activities by researching and gathering regulatory references and preparing permit application drafts.
Prepare project documents for senior review, including environmental conditions reports / permit related records and deliverables.
Support in preparation of other technical reports, including data tabulation, interpretation, and presentation within tables and figures.
Compile, clean, and manage environmental datasets for laboratory and field results.
Participate in health and safety planning.
Communication and interaction with vendors, clients, and subcontractors.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
BS degree in public health, environmental science, or closely related science field.
1 – 3 years of environmental consulting or related experience.
Previous experience with environmental data management, site assessment, and environmental regulatory compliance per federal and state requirements.
Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.
Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Teams) is required.
Ability to perform field work in various seasonal conditions.
Ability to travel and perform field work (approx. 10-25% of field work required). Including the ability to travel via car and airplane.
A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS degree in public health, environmental science, or closely related field.
Proficient in data analysis, modeling, and visualization using R, SQL, and advanced Excel functions.
Experience in database development and management for environmental datasets and risk visualization.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions.
Ability to travel and perform field work/oversight (approx. 10% - 25% of travel required).
Have full range of motion to support sampling activities.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
This position is based out of the Chicago, IL office with the potential of a hybrid work schedule, but the candidate must reside within 40 miles of the local Chicago, IL office. This arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company's discretion.
Occasional field work will include work to be performed outside, as a result may include occasional work in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, terrain, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, lifting, bending, and sitting for site assessments, site walks, and occasional sampling activities.
Office work will include prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer.
Travelling via car and airplane.
Additional Information:
Full-time, Monday through Friday work schedule (40 hours). Occasionally extended hours may be required based on project and/or client needs.
Work will be performed in an office and field setting.
Target salary range: $55,000 to $65,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
