Summary:

We are seeking a Project Manager with experience in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance and experience working with State Departments of Transportation (DOTs). A successful candidate would leverage their regulatory and management experience to lead diverse projects for clients in the transportation and infrastructure sectors. The candidate would be given immediate opportunities to build client relationships while working with and learning from highly-talented project management peers and technical experts to assist in growing Tetra Tech's Texas environmental business.  Candidate must be highly motivated and work well in a professional and team-oriented environment.  Candidate must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel as needed, possess excellent communication and organizational skills.  Proficiency with MS Office applications is a requirement.

Your Role:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-level to Senior Level Transportation Project Manager to join our Houston, Texas team to provide project management support for transportation and other various environmental projects throughout Texas and surrounding area. Our Tetra Tech team member will have experience working with environmental, regulatory and land use agencies, such as: Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Land Management, state agencies (Texas Parks and Wildlife Department [TPWD], and local county and city planning departments. Duties will include:

  • Project Management for Transportation projects, particularly under the jurisdiction of the FHWA and TXDOT preferred.
  • Managing technical support staff and conducting environmental studies for federally-funded transportation projects.
  • Develop and review technical studies and provide feedback to technical support staff and providing regulatory compliance guidance and solutions.
  • Working with state DOTs (TxDOT) and developing environmental and regulatory compliance strategies, understanding regulatory standard environmental documentation procedures, and industry best management practices.
  • Developing proposals, scope of work, and cost estimations.
  • USACE Section 404 Clean Water Act and Section 10 Rivers and Harbors Act Permitting.
  • Present solutions to complex problems to regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Professional approach towards client engagement and market growth.
  • The position may require outdoor work as well as overnight travel. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree or equivalent in any of the multi-disciplined sciences including biology, forestry, wildlife, natural resource management, environmental planning, or similar science degrees.
  • Eight plus years of experience in the FHWA and TXDOT Environmental Documentation and permitting or related environmental consulting experience.
  • TxDOT Pre-Certifications a plus.
  • Experience managing technical support staff and conducting environmental studies for federally-funded transportation projects.
  • Experience working with state DOTs (TxDOT) and environmental documentation for transportation projects.
  • Experience in USACE Section 404 Clean Water Act and Section 10 Rivers and Harbors Act Permitting.
  • Formidable knowledge of environmental consulting practices and environmental laws.
  • Ability to present solutions to complex problems to regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Professional approach towards client engagement and market growth.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel required.  ArcGIS experience is a plus.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
