Your Role:

  • Collect and preserve water samples for compliance and non-compliance purposes at collection sites throughout Rio Tinto Kennecott facilities.

  • Sampling of groundwater monitoring wells by purge sampling, no-purge well sampling using the Hydrasleeve method, collection of process samples from Kennecott facilities, and collection of water samples from outfalls permitted under the Utah Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.

  • Measure the depth to water of monitoring wells.

  • Conduct field analyses of samples for pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and ORP in accordance with laboratory protocols and standards.

  • Maintain, decontaminate, and calibrate field equipment to ensure accuracy and validity of data.

  • Repair of sampling pumps and equipment.

  • Set priorities for sample collection from sample schedules.

  • Work with limited supervision in remote areas.

  • Prepare chain of custodies, field reports, and enter field data in the laboratory information management system.

  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.

  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Physical ability to hike, carry equipment, and work in field conditions.
  • Comfortable working independently in remote or outdoor environments. 
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow sampling schedules and prioritize tasks.
