The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding an Environmental Scientists to join our team and support environmental surveys, compliance, and monitoring for renewable energy projects.
The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for observing and documenting permit compliance during the construction phases of renewable energy projects. This role requires strict adherence to standardized protocols, strong communication with construction contractors, and accurate data collection. Additionally, the Environmental Scientist may assist with environmental and biological surveys, including but not limited to wildlife, botanical, and wetland assessments.

Your Role:
- Monitor construction activities to ensure permit compliance following Tetra Tech protocols and training.
- Document findings accurately through data collection forms and daily reports.
- Communicate effectively with construction contractors and Tetra Tech staff.
- Assist with environmental and biological surveys as needed, including wildlife, botanical, or wetland assessments.
- Uphold all personal safety protocols, especially when working in isolated, rural areas.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Biology, Environmental Science, Soils, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in environmental construction monitoring or site restoration. Previous fieldwork in soil science, restoration ecology, or botany preferred.
- Experience with NPDES 1200-C permits and/or CESCL (Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead) certification is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to work up to four (4) field days per week with potential seasonal adjustments.
- Comfortable working in rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions (extreme heat, high winds, precipitation).
- Ability to communicate effectively with construction teams and Tetra Tech staff, both in the field and remotely.
- Proficiency with GPS units and the ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive within the renewable energy industry.
