Role Title: Graduate Transport Planner

Start Date: September 2025

Location: Manchester, Leicester and London

 

Job Description:

 

We have an exciting opportunity in our transport planning group for a Graduate Transport Planner to join our experienced team who are engaged in all aspects of traffic and transportation planning including transport assessments for new developments, masterplanning, urban regeneration projects, sustainable transport feasibility schemes and travel plans.

 

Key Duties:

 

  • Assisting in the preparation of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans
  • Developing sustainable transport solutions
  • Highway design including use of CAD
  • Analysis of data and drawings of transport improvements including junction designs
  • Preparing Technical reports
  • Site and Access Appraisals
  • Liaising with clients and stakeholders

 

 

Qualifications/Skills required:

 

  • A minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant technical discipline (for example Transport Planning, Civil/Highway Engineering, Town Planning, Geography)
  • MS Office skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong numeracy, analytical and report writing skills with an attention to detail
  • Suitability for security Clearance

 

You will soon pick up skills in

 

  • relevant planning and transport policy and highway design standards and guidance
  • the principles of strategic transport modelling, or prior experience of using SATURN and VISUM software
  • design modelling including AutoCAD and AutoTrack
  • use of traffic modelling software such as JUNCTIONS 9/10, LINSIG, TRANSYT, PARAMICS and VISSIM
  • Database modelling such as TRICS and GIS software.
  • Use of highways technical standards
