Your Role:
We are currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer for our Pickering, Ontario office. An Electrical Designer provides direct support to the Electrical Design Engineering Department. Candidates will perform electrical design, using a drafting software, and technical calculations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities:
- Prepare layouts, elevation views, grounding, lighting, lightning, installation details drawings and any other drawings required by the requirements of the projects.
- Perform electrical calculations and prepare material lists.
- Prepare complex BIM models using Revit and other BIM tools.
- Maintain and develop standard Revit families and BIM data requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop workflows to integrate BIM models with Point Clouds to facilitate design for brownfield.
- Adopt and administrate new tools to drive the digital transformation of engineering, construction, and design using cloud technologies such as the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Cintoo, Procore, integration with analysis software (ETAP), etc.
- Integrate vendor designs/ 3D models ensuring integrity of BIM data is maintained by developing new workflows for different design authoring tools such as Bentley Microstation, Siemens NX, Solidworks, etc.
- Develop new workflows to streamline and automate generation of deliverables such as Bill of Materials using Revit schedules, Single Line Diagram's (SLDs), Load/ Cable Lists and electrical analysis using the BIM model.
- Help junior designers with developing drafting and design skills.
- Exercise initiative in completing recurring assignments independently and applying judgement in determining which of many methods are applicable
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited institute program in Electrical Technology or Technician with OACETT Certification is considered an asset
- 6+ years of relevant design/drafting experience in consulting and/or Energy environment is considered an asset
- Proficient in Revit and the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
- Hands-on experience wiring, assembling, testing, or repairing electrical enclosures, PLCs, equipment/ control devices, fixtures, etc. as an electrical technician is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with other BIM tools such as Bentley Microstation, Open Utilities Substation, AVEVA E3D, Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, etc. is considered a strong asset.
- Experience using ETAP electrical analysis software is considered an asset.
- Graduation from an accredited institute program in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Technology.
- Knowledge and working experience related to Canadian Electrical Code and Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Computer knowledge in MS Office Suite
- Ability to work in team environment
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Experience in an engineering consulting firm is considered an asset.
- Working experience with a 3D design software would be considered an asset
Work Environment & Travel
- Hybrid work model: 3 days in the office per week.
- Occasional site visits to nuclear power generation facilities across Ontario.
