Summary:

Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Scientist to help with managing projects in our Phoenix office. Hybrid working opportunities may be available, but candidate must reside within 50 miles of a local Tetra Tech Phoenix office. The Mid-Level Environmental Scientist will manage environmental projects related to a variety of commercial clients, and key client accounts. A degree and background in geology or hydrogeology is preferred. Experience with superfund groundwater characterization & monitoring, PFAS, Oil and Gas, and/or Mining clients is ideal.

Typical tasks will include but not be limited to: task and project management, preparing technical reports, development and oversight of field sampling and field procedures, supervision of soil and groundwater investigations, feasibility studies, remediation design, business development and preparation of proposals, and assistance in staff development in technical areas. This is a client facing role, so previous project management experience, and ability/willingness/aptitude to help with developing client accounts and cross-selling a range of environmental services is highly desired.

Your Role:

  • Assist with writing proposals, obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors, draft cost estimates and project budgets.
  • Ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, project groups, and internal customers.
  • Develop sampling plans, health and safety plans, supervise and oversee field investigations.
  • Prepare technical reports, memos, response to comments tables.
  • Prepare and review figures and technical design schematics for remediation and construction projects.
  • Review and evaluate environmental and groundwater data. Perform statical analyses and provide data-based site recommendations.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of technical resources.
  • Provide project level financial tracking, status reporting, invoicing, and management of account receivable and purchase orders.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in geology, hydrogeology, geosciences, or related discipline required.
  • 4 – 8 years of professional environmental consulting experience is required, with a history of increasing responsibility.
  • Possess GIT/RG or have the ability to obtain within one year of employment.
  • Previous field experience required, including supervision of soil and groundwater investigations, sampling activities, and subcontractor oversight.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a hybrid setting.
  • Must be a skilled technical writer.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training required.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training and 8-hour OSHA.
  • Supervisors of Hazardous Waste Operations Training preferred.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro or Auto CAD desired.
  • Experience with SQL or Access database use desired.
  • Ability to traverse large terrain carrying a 50lb pack, over uneven ground, in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel and perform field work/oversight (approx. 50%-75% of travel required).
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
