Tetra Tech's commitment to hiring the best talent in the industry and helping them thrive professionally is stronger than ever. We are currently seeking a Wetland/Natural Resource Scientist with Senior-level experience.

 

The ideal candidate will possess 10 to 15 years of professional experience and will be well-versed in Inland Pacific Northwest environmental monitoring, wetland delineations, and/or botanical surveys. Typical project responsibilities may include wetland delineations, environmental monitoring, watershed studies, and support of stream and river restoration designs.

 

The position is remote but tied to the Bothell, Washington office. Staff could be located anywhere in the Pacific Northwest Region (between Boise, Seattle, and Portland).

 

Your Role:

·         Conduct wetland delineations and environmental monitoring.

·         Perform watershed studies and support stream and river restoration designs.

·         Write and submit permits (JPA, JARPA, CWA, etc.).

·         Lead and conduct field surveys, including botanical and ecological assessments.

·         Produce quality technical reports based on field data and research.

·         Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards.

·         Manage and analyze data, ensuring QA/QC.

·         Collaborate with team members, clients, and regulatory agencies.

·         Participate in multi-day fieldwork assignments across the Northwest region.

·         Utilize electronic field data collection devices and software (GPS units, handheld tablets, Collector for ArcGIS, Survey123).

 

Qualifications:

·         Degree in Botany, Ecology, Biology, or related Natural Resource field.

·         Minimum of 10 years of experience performing field surveys and writing permits, ideally located in the Inland Pacific Northwest.

·         Strong background of coursework and/or experience in a natural science (e.g., botany, soils, wetland science, or ecology) and field data collection, with a minimum of 12 semester hours or technical courses in the areas of plant identification, soils, wetland delineations, agriculture, or crop science.

·         Willingness to work outdoors in difficult conditions and remote locations.

·         Ability to work independently or as part of a team, maintaining a positive and effective attitude during long days in the field.

·         Good writing skills and experience in producing quality technical reports.

·         Strong organizational and time management skills.

·         Detail-oriented with strong technical skills, including data management, analysis, QA/QC, and a strong safety focus.

·         Ability to travel for assignments, including multi-day fieldwork assignments across the northwest region.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

·         Experience leading wetland delineation field surveys and reporting.

·         Experience writing botanical survey reports and/or wetland delineation reports.

·         Experience with tribal nations, state and federal agencies, and local watershed councils and soil and water conservation districts.

·         Familiarity with the Arid West ecosystems or willingness to learn on the job.

·         Familiarity with electronic field data collection devices and software (GPS units, handheld tablets, Collector for ArcGIS, Survey123).

·         Proficiency with standard office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, etc.).

 

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000yr.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
