Tetra Tech is seeking a Numerical Modeler to join our collaborative group of scientists, engineers, and software developers who are focused on addressing environmental concerns associated with inland, coastal, and marine applications, including offshore oil and gas exploration and development, linear infrastructure on land (pipelines), coastal engineering projects (dredging, pipeline, and cable burials, etc.), water quality, and renewable energy development (including fixed and floating offshore wind).
Working with public and private sectors around the world, our team uses proprietary and third-party, state-of-the art numerical modeling tools to identify potential trajectory, fate, and effects of released contaminants and sediments in inland, coastal, and marine environments. We are looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented team member with an ability and interest in learning quickly in a very dynamic work environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate logical problem-solving approaches with an ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and work both independently and as part of a team.

Your Role:
- Data preparation and analysis for use in modeling
- Computational modeling of oil, contaminants, and sediments in aquatic, estuarine, and offshore environments
- Post processing model results to succinctly summarize and communicate potential for environmental effects
- Preparation of reports and presentations
- Maintenance and archiving of environmental, contaminant, and model data
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science (B.S.) or equivalent experience in oceanography, environmental science, or civil / ocean / environmental engineering required. Masters of Science (M.S.) preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in the application of numerical models (e.g., contaminants, sediment, hydrodynamics, atmospheric) and a strong understanding of numerical modeling principles and conceptual formulation.
- 2-5 years of experience in data analysis, interpretation of large datasets, and application of quantitative analyses of datasets to solve environmentally-relevant problems in terrestrial, aquatic, marine, and/or atmospheric ecosystems required.
- Previous consulting experience (0-3 years) is not required but is welcome.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills in English along with presentation skills of complex scientific concepts.
- Proficiency with MATLAB and Python scripting.
- Experience with Fortran programming a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Experience with ArcGIS a plus.
