The Opportunity:
- Pacific-based - Including but not limited to: Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati and Nauru.
- Contract type: Consultancy (EOI – inclusion in consultant pool)
- Duration: 12 months

The Program:
Australia Assists is an Australian Government program that deploys skilled humanitarian specialists to support multilateral agencies, governments, civil society and communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and conflict. Australia Assists' Goal is to: Save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of conflict, disasters and other humanitarian crises, and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations. The program's Objective is: Targeted deployment of humanitarian expertise that meets the priorities and needs of Australia's multilateral, bilateral and civil society partners and advances Australia's international humanitarian priorities.
The Role:
Through this EOI, we seek a Pacific Storyteller (Multimedia Content Producer) who can support Australia Assists' communications and public diplomacy work. This role focuses on strengths-based, respectful, dignified storytelling that captures the impact of humanitarian deployments across the region.
The role may include supporting the Communications and Public Diplomacy Manager to deliver impactful photography, videography, interviews, and field stories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Communications and Public Diplomacy Manager and deployees to plan and align content collection with program objectives
- Capture stories through interviews, photography, and/or video during field activities
- Ensure cross-cutting priorities (GEDSI, Climate Resilience, Localisation, First Nations) are demonstrated in all content
- Produce high-quality, impactful material for reports, case studies, social media, and other platforms
- Perform other communications tasks as required
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in photography, videography, and multimedia storytelling, with a relevant portfolio
- Technical skills in camera operation, lighting, audio capture, and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Ability to deliver content that:
- is strengths-based
- uses informed-consent processes and culturally respectful interviewing
- aligns with dignified storytelling principles
- Strong understanding of Pacific cultures, values, and contexts (Pacific heritage preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate, receive direction, and work independently
