Description

We have an opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to join a busy Procurement team based in our Leeds City Centre office. 

 Role Purpose:


The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the sourcing, negotiation, and management of all goods and services required by the organisation. This role ensures that the procurement process is conducted efficiently, cost-effectively, and aligns with the company's strategic goals. The Procurement Manager will oversee a wide range of categories areas including HR services, Facilities Management, Travel / Accommodation, Professional Services, PPE and Hired in Equipment among others. The role also involves driving sustainability initiatives within procurement activities and managing the procure-to-pay process to ensure smooth and compliant transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies for the categories to deliver value, cost benefits, and improved service levels.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Integrate sustainability principles into procurement practices by selecting environmentally and socially responsible suppliers and products. Develop strategies to reduce the organisation's carbon footprint and promote ethical sourcing.
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships, ensuring that contracts and agreements meet the company's standards for quality, reliability, cost, and sustainability.
  • Procure-to-Pay Process Management: Oversee the procure-to-pay process, ensuring it operates efficiently from purchase order creation through to payment, with a focus on compliance, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Cost Control: Lead cost-benefit initiatives through strategic sourcing, demand management, and supplier negotiations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply of goods and services, ensuring business continuity.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and wider group stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure procurement strategies align with business objectives.
  • Contract Management: Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure favorable terms, adherence to service level agreements (SLAs), and compliance with legal, financial, and sustainability requirements.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about market trends, supplier developments, and emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve procurement and procure-to-pay and processes supplier database to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
  • Reporting: Track, analyse, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities, including savings achieved, supplier performance, compliance, and sustainability metrics.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional certifications in procurement (e.g., CIPS) are highly desirable
  • Several years of experience in procurement, particularly in a managerial role focusing on category management.
  • Proven track record of delivering cost benefits, driving sustainability initiatives, and improving procure-to-pay processes in a complex, multi-category environment.
  • Experience in supplier management, contract negotiation, sustainability initiatives, and risk management.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term procurement strategies that align with business goals, including sustainability objectives.
  • Sustainability Focus: Strong understanding of sustainability principles and the ability to integrate these into procurement decisions.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with a focus on creating win-win situations with suppliers.
  • Procure-to-Pay Expertise: Proficiency in managing the end-to-end procure-to-pay process, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis, cost modelling, and market research to inform decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Technology Savvy: Familiarity with procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP Ariba, Oracle, Coupa) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

This role may require occasional travel to meet with suppliers, stakeholders or attend industry events. The position is a mix of office-based and hybrid working arrangements depending on the company's policy.
