Summary:
Tetra Tech is looking to hire a Project Manager with a background in Biology or Chemistry to manage the environmental aspects of large energy projects, which could include oil and gas upstream and midstream, solar, wind, battery storage, electric transmission and carbon sequestration. Duties would include supporting program management, identifying and executing environmental permitting strategies, mentoring task managers and occasionally leading multi-disciplinary teams of cross-discipline teams of environmental scientists and engineers. Experience in NEPA and/or FERC compliance is preferred. This position offers the perfect blend of challenge and fulfillment, requiring exceptional project management skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of environmental policies and regulations. The position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work environment and flexibility in the office location, including Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Houston, or Denver.
Your Role:
- Manage environmental permitting aspects of energy projects, possibly including oil and gas upstream and midstream, solar, wind, battery storage, electric transmission and carbon sequestration.
- Manage multiple projects, meet client deadlines, and keep projects within set budgets.
- Lead teams and work within teams to be able to manage staff to accomplish our client needs.
- Clearly communicate internally within Tetra Tech and externally with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Applicant will be responsible for managing project staff assigned to projects.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or scientific field required.
- At least five years of related experience is required.
- Experience providing strong technical support for environmental projects as described above.
- Knowledge of comprehensive environmental federal, state, and local regulations also required.
- Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications are required.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Desired skills in the ideal candidate include but are not limited to:
- Leading the regulatory and permitting processes, ensuring compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
- Supporting project managers by providing expertise in environmental analyses, particularly in collaboration with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Preparing and processing a variety of permit applications at county, state, and federal levels, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
- Conducting environmental studies and resource analyses to inform project development and permitting strategies.
- Consulting with relevant governmental bodies and agencies to facilitate regulatory approvals and maintain open lines of communication throughout the permitting process.
- Self-starter with strong organizational management, communication, and technical writing abilities.
- Analytical skills related to qualitative and quantitative data.
- Information and data analysis.
- Multi-tasking and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
