This role involves working on multiple projects across various locations in British Columbia, including Fraser Canyon, Fraser Valley, the Lower Mainland, and Prince Rupert. Successful candidates must be flexible and be willing to travel as needed to various project sites.
The hourly rate for this position is $48.00-$72.00 per hour. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
Your Role:
- Lead a construction supervision team to: inspect/monitor construction for compliance with design and technical standards; produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports; and track quantities in the field.
- Liaise with the construction contractor, design engineers, the client, and project stakeholders.
- Report to the client on project schedule, costs, and risks.
- Prepare construction progress estimates for payment.
- Manage contract-related issues.
- Chair meetings.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Related Experience in Transportation Construction (highway/grading, bridge).
- Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of Quality Management.
- Experience supervising and directing personnel.
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a construction environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit (BC MoTT).
- Valid BC driver's license.
Preference will be given to those individuals owning and operating their own sole proprietorship or company. All required insurances and liability coverages necessary can be explained if you are selected for an interview.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Direct experience as a “Ministry Representative” on a BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit construction project.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Heavy civil construction related experience.
