Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG)

Program Goal: To support Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, and to build enduring relationships with Australia.

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, through enduring relationships with Australia. This is achieved through institution-to-institution partnerships and inclusive collaborations that produces high quality education and strengthens accredited training institutions in PNG.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of a high-quality Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Framework and Plan for AAPNG.
  • Ensure all AAPNG research and learning initiatives support an intersectional approach to GEDSI.
  • Oversee case studies, including support to Case Study Steering Committees, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and drafting case study briefs and reports.
  • Design, plan, manage, facilitate, and document for relevant staff learning and reflection workshops (ADIS pre-survey and post-survey, awardee selection) and adhoc learning and reflection events (for example, lunch and learn sessions).

Selection criteria

  • Undergraduate qualification with a strong research component in any field, or qualifications in monitoring and evaluation, international development, education or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing or conducting research in an international development context.
  • Proven information and technology skills in data input, collection, filtering analysis with a high degree of accuracy and reporting.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills including the ability to manage competing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Strong computer skills using all Microsoft Office 365 applications
