Your Role:

We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our exciting renewable energy team in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario or Newfoundland. The successful candidate will be required to provide civil engineering leadership and experience on small ($10M) to large ($400M) water resources and hydropower design projects. The individual will develop analysis plans and will contribute to design activities to ensure project goals are met. In addition, the individual will provide engineering leadership to a variety of consulting assignments ensuring value to our clients is maintained. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and direction for the development and implementation of water and hydro project execution plans that address all aspects of a project from engineering analysis, design and procurement through to construction and commissioning.
  • Development of project concepts and alternatives including systematic assessment of alternatives and project optimization, considered to be a highly valuable aspect of our services.
  • Power and energy modelling, including cost estimating and project economics.
  • Civil designs for dams, roads, embankments, channels, and other civil works based on hydrotechnical design efforts and geotechnical inputs from others.
  • Involvement in regulatory approval processes including general awareness of local requirements, preparation of various technical documents, support client interaction with regulatory agencies, and determining conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the company. Identify opportunities to improve company tools and techniques. Contribute to proposals, client development, and targeted marketing opportunities.
  • Work as an individual and as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work. Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to junior staff.
  •  Maintain strong relationships with clients through business development activities and identify new clients and project opportunities. Lead in the pursuit of water and hydro opportunities, including proposal preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Civil Engineer with a strong hydrotechnical background
  • Professional Engineer registration in at least one Canadian jurisdiction
  • Consulting Engineering experience of at least 15 years', working in a multidiscipline environment and capable of working on several major projects simultaneously.

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.) 

If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational and security) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.

The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $190,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
