The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Level Engineer/Project Manager to join our existing regional Engineering team by starting and leading a civil engineering group and practice in the South Carolina area. This position will be part of a dynamic regional team of engineers, scientists, and technicians engaged in a variety of projects providing planning, design, and engineering services focused on stormwater management, water/wastewater infrastructure design and improvements, land development, and/or construction services in the water resources area of practice in civil engineering. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer interested to take the next step in their career by building a new South Carolina engineering practice with the support of regional offices in GA, NC, and VA. The ability to work on multiple projects and teams and see tasks through to completion is critical. Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •    Provide advanced design of stormwater management facilities for municipalities and other entities is preferred.
•    Navigate varied local and state regulatory approval processes for permitting of stormwater and/or wastewater projects.
•    Design (or lead design efforts) using AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce grading plans, alignments, profiles, cut-fill volumes, surfaces, pipe networks, etc.
•    Must be a registered PE in the state of South Carolina with ability to obtain PE in Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.
•    Act as EOR/PE in responsible charge for various civil engineering projects. 
•    Provide design and oversight, based on recent experience, of sustainable green infrastructure, including subsurface storage and infiltration, bioretention basins, bioswales, green streets, and constructed wetlands.
•    Provide design, analysis, and oversight of drainage projects across the spectrum of civil engineering.
•    Provide design guidance and oversight of natural resources mitigation and restoration, i.e. stream restoration, wetland restoration, living shoreline restoration, etc.
•    Provide local, state, and federal permitting guidance related to land disturbance, natural resources impacts, and flood mitigation compliance.
•    Act as Project Manager in multi-disciplined projects in the preparation of construction drawings, details, specifications, calculations, and engineers' estimates of probable construction costs.  
•    Ultimately lead a team of engineers, CAD professionals, and/or GIS professionals
•    Provide leadership and mentorship through exceptional interpersonal skills.
•    Provide insight and direct on projects based on an intermediate knowledge of surveying and use of topographic data.
•    Possess a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
•    Engage with clients and professional organizations on behalf of Tetra Tech to foster exposure and growth of our expertise and experience.
•    Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
•    Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
•    Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
•    Additional duties as required.

 

 

 Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, environmental engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
•    A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in land development, water resources, and/or utility design projects.
•    Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 25%.
•    Current registration as South Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) is required. Ability to obtain additional target states within 3-months (GA, NC, VA).
•    Current certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is desired.
•    Current certification as a Certified Floodplain Manger (CFM) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is desired.
•    Advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD) may account for 1-2 years of experience.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
 

If this position requires a CAC card, CUI Enclave Access and/or a Security Clearance, a background check will be completed.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The physical demands of this position are limited to office work and some fieldwork.  Field work may include walking over uneven or rough terrain, some lifting, and safely managing exposure to a range of temperatures and possible wet weather.  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to safely work in the field.  

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The noise level is usually moderate in the primary work environment i.e., a typical business office with computers, printers, and light pedestrian traffic. When performing field work, the employee may be near moving equipment and/or machinery and may be subject to a range of weather conditions in those areas. Occasionally, work assignments will require the employee to travel via vehicle or air.

•    Must be fluent in the English language – writing, reading, and speaking.
•    Must have a high level of written and oral communication skills and the ability to work and collaborate with employees at all levels and disciplines.  
•    Successful candidate must possess effective communication skills, both orally and in written form. 
•    Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions.  
•    Ability to read, research, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, and government regulations.  

Other Skills: Instructions: 
The candidate must have the ability to work well in a professional and team-oriented environment, as well as independently. Candidate should possess strong organizational skills, excellent leadership skills, and be client focused. Must possess basic computer skills; the computer skills must include proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel. Must be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Advanced proficiency in 1D/2D hydrologic an hydraulic modeling is desired. ESRI GIS experience is a plus.
