Your Role:

 

Canadian Projects Limited (CPL), a Tetra Tech Company is seeking experienced civil engineers to support the successful delivery of North America-wide renewable energy projects ranging from the refurbishment of century-old hydroelectric stations to displacement of diesel generation in the north and gigawatt- scale wind projects for hydrogen production. Other water resource projects include river engineering, dams and hydraulic structures, dam safety, and flood risk mitigation. We are involved in all stages of projects from conceptual designs and feasibility studies, through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.

 

Supported by senior technical experts, other engineering staff and civil designers, you will be part of a highly collaborative engineering design team to deliver high quality studies, technical reports, presentations, calculation packages, construction drawings and specifications, and provide engineering support during construction.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Development of project concepts and alternatives including systematic assessment of alternatives and project optimization, considered to be a highly valuable aspect of our services.
  • Power and energy modelling including cost estimating and project economics for hydro, wind, and solar projects.
  • Civil designs for dams, roads, embankments, channels, and other civil works based on hydrotechnical design efforts and geotechnical inputs from others.
  • Project general arrangement drawings including providing sketches and direction to technologists and coordination of inputs from other disciplines.
  • Implement appropriate review processes for all elements of design, including technical, construction, logistics and operational considerations.
  • Involvement in regulatory approval processes including general awareness of local requirements, preparation of various technical documents, supporting client interaction with regulatory agencies, and determining conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the company. Identify opportunities to improve company tools and techniques. Contribute to proposals, client development, and targeted marketing opportunities.
  • Work as an individual and as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work. Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to junior staff. Act as project engineer on larger projects or project manager and engineer on smaller engineering assignments.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) or Engineering (B. Eng.) in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) registration in at least one Canadian jurisdiction.
  • At least 10 years of Canadian Consulting Engineering experience.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and capable of working on several major projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal and technical communication, and critical thinking skills. Ability to express ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks to best meet project schedules.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft 365 platform including Teams and SharePoint. Expert skills in Microsoft Excel would be a benefit. GIS software (Google Earth, ArcGIS, Global Mapper). Some experience with or exposure to AutoDesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Inventor, and Revit would also be a benefit.

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
