Summary:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer with industrial experience in the mining, minerals and metals sector.  This engineer will provide process engineering services to Tetra Tech and its clients and be responsible as the design technical lead on mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, equipment design and selection, technical studies, and process simulations.

This role is located in the Greater Denver CO area. 100% remote with <15% domestic travel.

Your Role:

  • Deliver process engineering services that meet Tetra Tech, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory specification, on time and within budget
  • Perform process engineering services such as:
    • Identify and report changes to project scope.
    • Assist with the preparation of proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.
    • Provide assistance during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. 
    • Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions.
    • Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports.
  • Develop, check and be the technical owner and approver of process engineering deliverables including, but not limited to, the following:
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat and Material Balances (HMBs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
    • Process models in Aspen HYSYS, Unisim Design, PipeFLO, or other simulation software.
    • Line sizing, velocity and pressure drop calculations.
    • Equipment sizing calculations and specifications for bulk separation vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, control valves and PSV's.
    • Process engineering studies, process basis of design documents and technical reports
    • Participate in PHA for assigned project.
    • Participate in and provide feedback during project design reviews.
    • Review and comment inter-disciplinary deliverables such as piping layouts, isometrics, 3D models, mechanical equipment specifications, etc.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in process engineering.
  • Communicate effectively with the process engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
  • Evaluation of existing systems for the purpose of providing upgrades or efficiency increases.
  • Review internal and external design documents and provide feedback on concept and code compliance, adherence to contract requirements, constructability, cost optimization and other factors for a complete and accurate design package.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of process/chemical engineering experience in mining, minerals and metals sector.
  • Must be an effective communicator and leader with success in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • Must have the ability to utilize numerous process modelling software packages to properly design, troubleshoot, and optimize a variety of operations.
  • Must be able to manage multiple project efforts, prioritizing task and resources.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office products such as: Microsoft Windows – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Target Salary Range: $125k to $165k.
