Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG)

Program Goal: To support Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, and to build enduring relationships with Australia.

Objective: To support institution-to-institution partnerships and inclusive collaborations, forge people-to-people links, support high quality education, and strengthen accredited training institutions in PNG.

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, through enduring relationships with Australia. This is achieved through institution-to-institution partnerships and inclusive collaborations that produces high quality education and strengthens accredited training institutions in PNG.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain, source and verify updated information and support in providing security risk updates to staff and management. Including liaising with various stakeholders to obtain intel on any emerging situations.
  • Assist in developing strategies and training for emergency or incident management procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with HSS procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Support in conducting pre-trip and post-trip debriefings for provincial travel visits.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including awardees, student contact officers, case managers, and other relevant institution representatives
  • Provide support to the Deputy Director of Operations & Compliance and Safety, Security & Risk Coordinator in emergency situations and the coordination/implementation of emergency response.

Selection criteria

  • Completion of Year 12 education and qualifications in Security or Health & Safety
  • Possession of a valid First Aid certification
  • Current driver's license
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the private or donor sector
  • Proven experience in coordinating travel and logistics and Health, Safety, and Security activities
  • Strong proficiency in both written and verbal English communication
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel
  • In-depth knowledge of the security environment in Papua New Guinea, with established industry contacts
