LS Technologies, LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking an Electronics Technician to support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade activities across a broad range of electronic systems and infrastructure. This single posting covers multiple experience levels (Journeyman through Lead). The role is remote‑based but requires 100% travel to job sites (regional or national) and involves hands‑on work with electronic assemblies, PCBs, wire harnesses, power systems, RF/communications equipment, test/diagnostic instrumentation, field installations, site commissioning, and system‑level troubleshooting. Lead‑level candidates will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, coordinate small projects, and serve as a primary point of contact with engineering and customers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities - Essential Job Functions may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, modification and testing of analog and digital electronic assemblies, PCBs, harnesses, power systems and related equipment.
- Install, align, calibrate, verify and certify equipment per technical manuals, schematics, engineering drawings and approved procedures.
- Read, interpret and work from electrical/electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, block diagrams and technical specifications.
- Perform component‑level soldering, de‑soldering and rework for both surface mount and through‑hole assemblies to IPC/J‑STD standards where applicable.
- Use and interpret results from test and measurement equipment: digital multimeter, bench and handheld oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, logic analyzers, LCR meters, power supplies, and automated test equipment (ATE).
- Build, terminate, route and verify cable assemblies and wire harnesses; install and verify connectors, cordsets and terminations.
- Execute preventive maintenance, inspections, alignment and functional checkout procedures; document maintenance actions and produce Service/As‑Built records.
- Perform system‑level troubleshooting: power distribution, communications/RF subsystems (including microwave/antenna subsystems where applicable), sensors, embedded controllers, PLCs, and I/O interfaces.
- Support field installations, site commissioning, cutovers, customer acceptance testing, and operational handover.
- Maintain/update technical documentation: schematics, BOMs, wiring lists, test procedures, failure analyses, corrective action records and as‑built drawings.
- Follow and enforce ESD, safety, quality, configuration control and site access procedures; participate in root‑cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- For Lead level: plan and schedule work packages, mentor/train technicians, coordinate with engineering/procurement, manage spare parts and test equipment, lead small projects, and act as customer/engineering liaison on site.
- Perform basic mechanical and light construction/site preparation tasks as required to support installations (e.g., mounting assemblies, routing cable, securing racks/panels).
Required Qualifications - A successful candidate will have
- Formal electronics/trades training (Associate's degree, technical diploma, military electronics training, apprenticeship) OR equivalent hands‑on experience.
- Experience tiers: Journeyman 2–5 years; Mid‑level 5–8 years; Lead/Senior 8+ years (level and compensation aligned to experience).
- Proven proficiency with electronic measurement/test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum/network analyzer, power supplies).
- Ability to read and apply electrical/electronic schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Strong hands‑on soldering and component‑level repair skills (SMT and through‑hole).
- Experience assembling, terminating and verifying cable/harness assemblies and connectors.
- Demonstrated systematic troubleshooting skills at board, assembly and system level.
- Basic computer and software skills for diagnostics, test automation and documentation (e.g., diagnostic/test software, MS Office).
- Effective written and verbal communication for reporting, documentation and team coordination.
- Strong attention to detail, quality orientation and commitment to safety.
- Ability and willingness to travel 100% and work on site for extended durations as required.
- Eligibility to work in the country of employment and ability to pass required background checks and site clearances (may require U.S. citizenship for certain assignments).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RF, microwave, antenna systems, and use of spectrum/network analyzers.
- Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, PLCs, real‑time control systems or industrial automation.
- Familiarity with IPC standards (J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑610), ESD control programs and solder process qualification.
- Background supporting field installations, site commissioning, telecom or NAS/FAA‑style infrastructure preferred.
- Experience with automated test equipment (ATE), test program development, and test data analysis.
- Certifications: IPC soldering, fiber optics, vendor‑specific equipment certifications, OSHA or other safety training.
- Prior military electronics experience or formal apprenticeship.
Work Requirements and Additional Information
- Work Location: Remote — position requires 100% travel to job sites (regional/national as assigned).
- Position is: Remote with full‑time travel requirement.
- Work Hours: Full time (typically 40 hours/week; may include extended shifts, nights or weekends depending on project schedules).
- Travel: 100% — schedule cadence and duration depend on assignments; candidate must be able to deploy on short notice and remain on site for multi‑day or multi‑week deployments as required.
- Background check/clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain required background checks or clearances as required by contract or site.
- Physical demands and site conditions may vary by assignment; candidate must be prepared to work in indoor labs, shop environments and outdoors at varying sites.
Physical Requirements
- Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods working at a computer for documentation and diagnostics.
- Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting and carrying of equipment and materials up to 50 pounds; occasional heavier lifts with team assistance may be required.
- Mobility: Ability to move around shops, labs and field sites; climbing ladders, working at heights or in confined spaces as required.
- Dexterity: Fine motor skills, hand‑eye coordination and visual acuity to perform soldering, assembly and precise test operations.
- Sitting/Standing: Combination of prolonged sitting for documentation/diagnostics and standing/bench work for repairs and installations.
- Work Environment/Environmental Factors: Predominantly field‑based; exposure to variable weather and site conditions; PPE, ESD controls and site safety protocols required for site work.

Compensation (Pay Bands)
Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of LSTs total compensation package for employees. ** In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C."
